Simulation 11: Speedsters & Racers

 Note: This simulation was originally made in July 19th, 2021.

    Hope you're having a great day, ladies and gentlemen!! In this simulation, the tributes will consist of characters from video games and animated series with super speed, as well as characters that frequently compete in races or race-based challenges, so from that description you can expect there will be a lot of chases during this simulation, and indeed there are. As seen above, the districts are organized in the following way:

District 1: Sonic the Hedgehog, the mascot of the video game company Sega, and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony.

District 2: The Flash (the DCAU version of Wally West, to be more specific) and Quicksilver (the Wolverine and the X-Men incarnation).

District 3: The Ingenium brothers, the Class 1-A student Tenya Ida and his older brother Tensei Ida, from My Hero Academia.

District 4: Speedy Gonzalez and Road Runner, from Looney Tunes.

District 5: XLR8, one of the many aliens Ben Tennyson can transform into from the Ben 10 cartoon, and the Autobot, from Transformers, known as Blurr.

District 6: Running Man from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and II Piantissimo from Super Mario Sunshine.

District 7: Koopa the Quick from Super Mario 64, and Spooky Speedster from Super Mario Galaxy.

District 8: Speed Forme Deoxys and Ninjask, Pokémon considered to have the highest Speed stats (along with Regieleki, but it already appeared in one of the previous simulations that featured Legendary Pokémon).

District 9: Cosmic Mario and Cosmic Luigi, from Super Mario Galaxy.

District 10: Jet the Hawk from Sonic Riders, and the Big Penguin from Super Mario 64.

District 11: Speed Demon (a D-list Spider-Man villain from the comics who makes an appearance in the Avengers Assemble animated series) and Zoom (Hunter Zolomon; as he doesn't make an appearance in the animated series nor the DC Universe Online videogame, I had to use an image of him from the comics; he appears as a boss in Justice League Heroes: The Flash, though).

District 12:  Rainbow Dash's rival Lightning Dust and Sonic's robotic knockoff Metal Sonic.

Now, choose your district!! As for me, I think it should be pretty obvious that I'm going to choose the one that has Sonic in it, as the Sonic franchise is one of my favorite video game franchises, not to mention I also enjoyed watching the Sonic X series as a kid and I can't wait for the 2nd Sonic film to hit theaters next year after the success that was the first film. Therefore, District 1, I choose you!!

As the tributes stand on their podiums, the horn sounds. The following events occur during The Bloodbath:

- II Piantissimo takes a sickle from inside the Cornucopia.

- Zoom runs away from the Cornucopia.

- Blurr rips a mace out of Lightning Dust's hands.

  Lightning Dust (in a fit of rage): RIVALS FOR LIFE!!

- XLR8 runs away from the Cornucopia.

- Jet runs away from the Cornucopia.

  Jet: No way I'm gonna lose!

- Sonic finds a backpack full of camping equipment.

  Sonic: Huh, neat.

- Ingenium I (Tensei) finds a backpack full of camping equipment.

- Speedy Gonzalez runs away from the Cornucopia.

  Speedy: ¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba!

- The Flash III runs away from the Cornucopia.

- Road Runner scares Ninjask away from the Cornucopia.

- Rainbow Dash grabs a shield leaning on the Cornucopia.

  Rainbow Dash (still in a huge shock due to the circumstances): Omigoshomigoshomigoshomigosh!!

- Speed Demon finds Koopa the Quick hiding in the Cornucopia, but the latter manages to get rid of the former with a well-timed Shell Toss going for the head.

- Quicksilver, Spooky Speedster and Running Man work together to get as many supplies as possible.

- Metal Sonic kills Big Penguin using his chest laser.

- Cosmic Mario scares Ingenium II (Tenya) away from the Cornucopia.

- Cosmic Luigi finds a backpack full of camping equipment.

- Deoxys (Speed Forme) finds a bow, some arrows, and a quiver.

Day 1:

- Sonic steals from Ninjask while the latter isn't looking.

  Sonic: You're too slow!

- Cosmic Mario attacks Speedy Gonzalez, but he manages to escape.

- Deoxys-S (an alternate way of naming the Speed Forme of Deoxys) questions its sanity.

- Zoom travels to higher ground.

- The Flash receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Metal Sonic tries to spear fish with a trident.

- Lightning Dust begs for Tenya to kill her. He refuses, keeping Lightning Dust alive.

- Quicksilver chases XLR8.

- Rainbow Dash questions her sanity.

  Rainbow Dash: Who said anything about anger?! I didn't say anything about anger! Do I look angry?!

- Cosmic Luigi discovers a cave.

- II Piantissimo tries to spear fish with a trident.

- Jet the Hawk steals from Road Runner while the latter isn't looking.

  Jet: Without wings, well, you might as well kiss the ground and go home!

- Koopa the Quick tends to his partner Spooky Speedster's wounds.

- Running Man searches for firewood.

- Blurr and Tensei hunt for other tributes.

2 cannon shots can be heard in the distance, in honor of Speed Demon (District 11) and Big Penguin (District 10).

Night 1:

- Lightning Dust receives fresh food from an unknown sponsor.

- Tensei, Spooky Speedster and Deoxys-S discuss the games and what might happen in the morning.

- Zoom cooks his food before putting his fire out.

- Sonic, Metal Sonic, Jet and Quicksilver sleep in shifts.

- Cosmic Mario & Cosmic Luigi, along with Running Man and Blurr, sleep in shifts.

- Speedy Gonzalez and Rainbow Dash talk about the tributes still alive.

- Road Runner and II Piantissimo huddle for warmth.

- The Flash sets up camp for the night.

- Ninjask and Koopa the Quick run into each other and decide to truce for the night.

- XLR8 is unable to start a fire and sleeps without warmth.

- Tensei climbs a tree to rest.

Day 2:

- Koopa the Quick searches for firewood.

- Ninjask also searches for firewood.

- Speedy Gonzalez travels to higher ground.

- Cosmic Mario receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Deoxys-S sprains its ankle while running away from the Autobot Blurr.

- Zoom makes a wooden spear.

- Quicksilver defeats Tensei in a race, but spares his life.

- Running Man receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Jet steals from Piantissimo while he isn't looking.

  Jet: You won't be calling yourself the world's fastest for long!

- The Flash begs for Tenya to kill him. He refuses, keeping The Flash alive.

- Spooky Speedster collects fruit from a tree.

- Rainbow Dash and XLR8 work together for the day.

- Cosmic Luigi discovers a cave.

- Road Runner is pricked by thorns while running over to swallow berries.

- Sonic picks flowers.

  Sonic (admiring his surroundings): Huh, not a bad view!

- Lightning Dust & Metal Sonic work together for the day. Lightning Dust brags on and on about her plans to humilliate Rainbow Dash as well as the blue hedgehog known as Sonic, while Metal Sonic nonchalantly beeps in response everytime Sonic is mentioned.

No cannon shots can be heard in the distance.

Night 2:

- Cosmic Mario thinks about winning.

- Sonic: Whoa! It's not time for thinking. It's time for running.

  Tensei, Running Man and Sonic get into a race while fighting each other, and end up entering a maze. Against all odds, Running Man is the one who picks the correct path to get out of the maze while Sonic and Tensei run into dead ends and perish through different means. Tensei fatally crashes into a wall, while on Sonic's end, he ends up drowning due to water quickly flooding his section of the maze (insert Sonic drowning music).

- Quicksilver begs for his partner The Flash to kill him. He refuses, keeping Quicksilver alive.

- Spooky Speedster passes out from exhaustion.

- Zoom sees a fire, but stays hidden.

- Tenya lets Cosmic Luigi into his shelter.

- Deoxys-S tries to treat his infection.

- Koopa the Quick passes out from exhaustion.

- Road Runner tries to sing himself to sleep.

- XLR8 dies from hypothermia.

- Lightning Dust, Rainbow Dash and Speedy Gonzalez discuss the games and what might happen in the morning.

- Blurr stays awake at night.

- Ninjask beats Jet in a race, but spares his life.

- Metal Sonic attempts to start a fire, but is unsuccessful.

- Piantissimo screams for help.

Day 3:

- Running Man and Cosmic Mario track down Road Runner and manage to accomplish what Wile E. Coyote couldn't all those years ago.

- The Flash attacks Blurr, but he manages to escape.

- Lightning Dust makes a wooden spear.

- Cosmic Luigi constructs a shack.

- Jet makes a slingshot.

- Deoxys-S attacks Spooky Speedster, but he manages to escape.

- Speedy Gonzalez hunts for other tributes.

- Metal Sonic, Zoom, Tenya and Koopa the Quick raid Quicksilver's camp while he is hunting.

- Ninjask makes a slingshot.

- Piantissimo explores the arena.

- Rainbow Dash discovers the cave mentioned on Day 2.

  Rainbow Dash: It needs to be about twenty-percent cooler.

4 cannon shots can be heard in the distance, in honor of Tensei (District 3), Sonic (District 1), XLR8 (District 5) and Road Runner (District 4).

Night 3:

- Zoom kills Blurr with his own weapon.

  Zoom: Is that the best you can do? You're disappointing me.

- Cosmic Mario fends Quicksilver, Speedy Gonzalez and Piantissimo away from his fire.

- Metal Sonic & Lightning Dust, along with Ninjask, Spooky Speedster and Rainbow Dash sleep in shifts.

- Cosmic Luigi, Koopa the Quick and Running Man sleep in shifts.

- The Flash sets up camp for the night.

- Tenya receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Jet tends to his wounds.

- Deoxys-S attempts to climb a tree, but it climbs the tree too fast and thus ends up falling from a great height to its demise.

Day 4:

- Metal Sonic steals from Koopa the Quick while he isn't looking.

- The Flash discovers a river.

  The Flash: Good thing I can run on water.

- Spooky Speedster, Jet, Rainbow Dash and Ninjask raid Cosmic Mario's camp while he is hunting.

- Cosmic Luigi tends to Running Man's wounds.

- Lightning Dust makes a slingshot.

- Quicksilver receives a hatchet from an unknown sponsor.

- Piantissimo chases Speedy Gonzalez.

- Zoom inadvertently detonates a land mine while trying to arm it.

  Zoom: NOOOOOO!! Flash must suffer!!

- Tenya camouflages himself in the bushes.

3 cannon shots can be heard in the distance, in honor of Blurr (District 5), Deoxys-S (District 8) and Zoom (District 11).

Night 4:

- Cosmic Mario receives an explosive from an unknown sponsor.

- Koopa the Quick looks at the night sky.

- Piantissimo defeats Tenya in a race, but spares his life.

  Tenya (after being spared): I'm a novice. I can't measure up to their standards! Be that as it may... I have to stand up! Never again! Never again will they... or my brother... Leave me behind in the dust!

- Spooky Speedster goes to sleep.

- Rainbow Dash taints Jet's drink, but somehow mistakes it for her own and pays the price.

  Rainbow Dash (realizing her mistake before succumbing to the poison): I hate losing...

- The Flash lets Running Man into his shelter.

- Ninjask roars for help.

- Cosmic Luigi is awoken by nightmares.

- Speedy Gonzalez receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Metal Sonic loses sight of where he is.

- Lightning Dust receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Too much running eventually caught up with Quicksilver, as he dies from thirst.

Day 5:

- Piantissimo fishes.

- Running Man tries to spear fish with a trident.

- Cosmic Luigi once again stumbles upon the cave mentioned on Day 1.

- Jet injures himself.

- Metal Sonic & Lightning Dust, along with Ninjask, The Flash and Tenya hunt for other tributes.

- Speedy Gonzalez searches for a water source.

- Koopa the Quick is unable to convince his partner Spooky Speedster to not kill him after losing to him in a race.

- Cosmic Mario succumbs to hypothermia.

4 cannon shots can be heard in the distance, in honor of Rainbow Dash (District 1), Quicksilver (District 2), Koopa the Quick (District 7) and Cosmic Mario (District 9).

Night 5:

- Metal Sonic cries himself to sleep.

- Piantissimo cries himself to sleep.

- Speedy Gonzalez receives medical supplies from an unknown sponsor.

- Ninjask receives an explosive from an unknown sponsor.

- Spooky Speedster loses sight of where he is.

- The Flash cooks his food before putting his fire out.

- Cosmic Luigi attempts to climb a tree, but falls on Lightning Dust, killing them both.

- Running Man receives fresh food from an unknown sponsor.

- Tenya thinks about winning.

- Jet screams for help.

Next morning, the Cornucopia is replenished with food, supplies, weapons and memoirs from the tributes' families, thus the following events occur during The Feast:

- Tenya decides not to go to The Feast.

- Running Man decides not to go to The Feast.

- Speedy Gonzalez sets Jet the Hawk on fire with a molotov.

- Spooky Speedster decides not to go to The Feast.

- The Flash decides not to go to The Feast.

- Metal Sonic shoots a poisonous blow dart into II Piantissimo's neck, slowly killing him.

- Pitfall Trap!

  Ninjask fell into the pitfall!

Day 6:

- Running Man kills The Flash while he is resting.

- Tenya and Metal Sonic work together for the day.

- Spooky Speedster receives clean water from an unknown sponsor.

- Speedy Gonzalez fishes.

6 cannon shots can be heard in the distance, in honor of Cosmic Luigi (District 9), Lightning Dust (District 12), Jet the Hawk (District 10), II Piantissimo (District 6), Ninjask (District 8) and The Flash III (District 2).

Night 6:

- Tenya is awoken by nightmares.

- Running Man and Speedy Gonzalez hold hands.

- Spooky Speedster is unable to start a fire and sleeps without warmth.

- Metal Sonic tries to treat his infection.

Day 7:

- Metal Sonic explores the arena.

- Spooky Speedster inadvertently detonates a landmine while trying to arm it.

- Tenya sprains his ankle while running away from Running Man.

- Speedy Gonzalez is pricked by thorns while picking berries.

1 cannon shot can be heard in the distance, in honor of Spooky Speedster (District 7).

Night 7:

- Running Man starts a fire.

- Tenya is unable to start a fire and sleeps without warmth.

- Metal Sonic quietly hums.

- Speedy Gonzalez receives a hatchet from an unknwon sponsor.

Day 8:

- Running Man constructs a shack.

- Tenya overpowers Speedy Gonzalez, killing him.

- Metal Sonic fishes.

1 cannon shot can be heard in the distance, in honor of Speedy Gonzalez (District 4).

Night 8:

- Running Man cries himself to sleep.

- Tenya is awoken by nightmares.

- Metal Sonic starts a fire.

Day 9:

- Metal Sonic, Tenya and Running Man find themselves inside the huge maze from Night 2. Metal Sonic manages to calculate the exact route to take in order to exit the maze unscathed, picking some flowers on the way out. Meanwhile, Running Man gets cocky and attempts to climb a tree in order to see all the possible escape routes, but the tree collpases and Running Man falls to his death. Afterwards, the weather inside the maze gets colder and colder, thus Tenya eventually succumbs to hypothermia.

2 cannon shots can be heard in the distance, in honor of Running Man (District 6) and Tenya Ida a.k.a. Ingenium II (District 3).

Thus, the winner is... Metal Sonic, from District 12!!

    As a little side-note, in regards to the Sonic movie, I'm proud of admitting that was the last movie I got to see in theaters before the pandemic began to greatly affect my home country. I originally wanted to wait until the release of the Sonic 2 film next year to go to movie theaters once again, but the sudden anouncement of the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie managed to change my mind and so, from the time I publish this entry, one week has passed since said Spider-Man film was released on theaters here in Mexico and, since I managed to watch it that same day along with a cousin and her boyfriend, we all had a great time enjoying that film and well let's just say I rate it 14/10 (No spoilers in the comment section, please). Now, I look forward to watching the Sonic 2 film when it eventually hits theaters next year.
